Biography
Diana Dabinett was born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, and received her BA (Arts) Degree from the University of Cape Town, in South Africa. She spent four years teaching High School in Zimbabwe and in England, after which she moved to Canada, and spent four years as the Assistant Curator at the London Art Gallery in London, Ontario. In 1975, Dabinett moved to Newfoundland, and became a Canadian Citizen. Dabinett has exhibited and received commissions across Canada. Her work is in the private collections of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, the Government of Canada, and the Canada Council Art Bank, as well as many others. Dabinett remains very active in the arts community as a member of such organizations as the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour, Visual Arts Newfoundland, Canadian Artists Representation, and Nova Scotia Designer Crafts Council.
