Biography

Rami Schandall has divided her life between the two coasts of North America. Born in Big Sur, California in 1969, she spent her early childhood in tiny Charlos Cove, Nova Scotia, Canada, and was schooled in Victoria, BC, Canada. She resided in Halifax, NS, from 1997 until the fall of 2000, when she moved to Toronto, Ontario.

Her artistic training is informal, enriched by the academic study of Art History, life-drawing workshops, drawing and painting seminars, and extensive travel and gallery going. She has always been creatively inclined, but took up focused studio work in 1997, with her escape from University and a return to the East Coast. Her work tends toward abstraction, although figures and recognisable objects often find their way onto the canvas. Her style is eclectic and experimental, reflecting widely varying interests and an insatiable curiosity.
